Nancy and I were in France last summer visiting with the design team we work with. We had the previous year suggested a tablecloth design containing things from Provence, sun flowers being the predominant feature. When we arrived, we were shown a workup of the tablecloth design, which was very good. Talking with the girls of the design team there were suggestions to change this, scale down that and maybe remove this. Small changes were made, and sample prints produced of the finished tablecloth produced, but the girls were just not satisfied and small changes were again made. There was also the mater of the right colors. At this point the design was complete and then one of the girls made a small change, the results were fantastic. Now the question; the tablecloth design needs a name, seeing how the sunflower is a large part of the design, I recommended Tournesol “Sunflower”, that was shot down very quickly. Everyone said there are too many Provencal tablecloth designs which have Tournesol “Sunflower” in their name. Then someone said the design is many parts of Provence and others responded YES, the design is Provence, so the name of the tablecloth shall be and is Provence.

This Provence tablecloth design has Sunflowers, Lavender and olives all which are traditional crops of Provence, products of all kinds using these crops are made in Provence and you will find the Sunflower, Lavender and Olive everywhere in the decor of Provence, the design is truly Provencal.
